Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali

Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali did MSc (Hon.), MBA (Marketing) and PhD Agronomy degrees during his education career and has more than 25 years of work experience and has participated in 14 International and 20 National Trainings. He has 80 publications published in National and International Journals. He is a regular contributor of Urdu journal namely "Zarat Nama" and other Urdu journals on production technology of field crops, vegetable & orchards (weekly / fortnightly) and introduced package and practices of Rabi/Kharif crops in Urdu. He is the author two dedicated and widely accepted books i.e. “Handbook for Agriculture Extension Agents on Pesticides Standardized in Punjab” and “Agriculture Machinery for Progressive Growers”. He has executed development project of more than Rs. 4.0 billion from 2007. In addition, also spearheaded flood campaigns in 2008, 2010 and 2012 and incurred expenditure of more than Rs. 2.5 billion without any lapse. Dr Anjum is also working as Adjunct Professor of Agronomy at University of Agriculture Faisalabad and is regular speaker at various Agriculture Universities of agro-management techniques. 
 
Dr Anjum has started service career as Assistant Research Officer (ARO), Adaptive Research Farm, Dera Ghazi Khan on January 01, 1988 and soon after was selected as Assistant Research Officer (ARO) at Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute (AMRI), Multan and joined there on August 31, 1989. After serving nine years in AMRI, again selected as Extra Assistant Director Agriculture (EADA) and served at various stations of Punjab. Thereafter, once again selected as Director Agriculture (Adaptive Research) Punjab in 2002 and after serving for 4 years, Government of the Punjab elevated him to the position of Director General Agriculture (Ext. & AR), Punjab at the age of 44 years to spearhead Agriculture Extension and Adaptive Research Wing Punjab and did many landmark achievements for the province.
 
During stay as Director Adaptive Research from 2003 to 2007 acclimatized technologies for all agro-ecological zones and contributed research papers of national and international journals. In addition, also supervised research of 10 students for Ph.D/M.Sc. studies at Adaptive Research. Afterwards, as Director General Agriculture (Ext. & AR), Punjab planned agriculture extension campaign on modern lines and set the new production records in wheat, rice, maize, sugarcane and potato crops. In addition, introduced off-season vegetable through tunnel cultivation and good agriculture practices for planting of field vegetables and increase the area under vegetables. He introduced new agriculture extension and transfer of technologies concepts to introduce Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Plant Clinic, Hub Farmers and vying to increase the reach of Extension service in Punjab.
